Etiology

  • Typically high force injury
  • May have hx dislocation
  • Can occur w/native or prothetic hips

Symptoms

  • Acute
  • Severe pain and inability to walk/bear weigth

Physical Exam Findings

  • Acute pain
  • Unable to walk
  • Difficulty manipulating hip
  • Leg appears foreshortened and externally or internally rotated
