Etiology

Risk Factors

  • ETOH
  • NSAIDs
  • H pylori

Symptoms

  • Epigastric pain
  • Black stools
  • Better or worse w/food
  • Coffee ground emesis if bleeding

Physical Exam Findings

  • May have black stools (if significant bleeding) and guaiac +
  • Sometimes epigastric discomfort on palpation
