Etiology

  • Associated with endocarditis in a minority (15%) of those w/disease
  • More typically secondary to local trauma

Physical Exam Findings

  • Vertical, red-brown lines, within the nail bed (don’t grown out)
  • Don’t disappear w/pressure as blood has already leaked out of vessel
